On Friday, ECR Minerals (LSE:ECR) announced the appointment of experienced geologist Sam Garrett to the board. Craig Brown, Chief Executive Officer of ECR describes the timing of Garret’s appointment as a Non-Executive Director of the gold explorer as ‘key’. The company is advancing a number of projects, particularly in Australia, at a considerable pace.
The company consists of a relatively small team which has enabled it to be very cost-efficient. Recent months have proven to be a particularly busy time for the firm with it undertaking two drilling campaigns over three prospects in the Victoria region of Australia. This includes the Black Cat prospect in its Bailieston gold project where drilling kicked off earlier this month, and the Creswick and Bailieston gold projects.
In today’s announcement, ECR advises that Garrett has 30 years of exploration management, project assessment and operational experience working for large multi-national and junior mining and exploration companies in ten countries. These include Australia, Argentina and the Philippines where ECR currently hold interests.
Craig Brown, Chief Executive Officer of ECR Minerals plc, commented:
“I am delighted to announce the appointment of Sam Garrett to the board of ECR Minerals. Sam brings extensive geological experience onto the board, not just in Australia but also in South America and the Philippines, where the Company has existing business interests.
The timing of Sam’s appointment is key, as we look to rapidly advance our existing interests and continue to identify new strategic acquisition opportunities.
The ECR Minerals business is growing and developing at some pace and I look forward to providing further updates in the near future.”
In addition to its various drilling updates, last month also saw ECR announce that it had submitted applications for a further nine exploration licences that make up the Windidda gold project in the Yilgarn region of Australia.
MiningMaven caught up with Craig Brown while he was travelling in South America earlier this month. In the interview, Brown gave a comprehensive overview of the company's drilling activities and reasoned why Australia is so attractive for gold exploration. To listen to the podcast, click below.
