Decisions, decisions! What would Joseph Stalin do?
In the Soviet army it takes more courage to retreat than advance - Joseph Stalin
Whenever we are faced with a difficult decision, the urge is often to try to put it off or even avoid making it altogether. That’s because the human condition is predisposed towards seeking comfort. Difficult decisions, by definition, make us feel uncomfortable, and by nature we tend to want to avoid whatever makes us feel uncomfortable.
Of course we’re not talking here about the kind of difficult decisions we may face in a restaurant when having to choose between the Filet Mignon or the Sea Bass (though for some this may well present a momentous challenge in itself). The kind of decisions we're talking about are the ones often thrust upon us by circumstances. Decisions we didn’t ask to have to make and when faced with, we are forced to choose to jump in one direction or another.
